Bio
Having grown up in Genoa, Italy, surrounded by Italian songwriters like Fabrizio De Andrè and Gino Paoli, Anthony Lazaro now finds himself in Germany, transcending the boundaries of modern music with his ability to move seamlessly across genres, introducing familiar peaceful melodies, without ever losing the quirky lyrics that makes him uniquely alluring.
Like many, Lazaro’s infatuation with music started young—at just four years old he received his first music player, and before long took up guitar lessons and learning three major chords that have impacted his life ever since.
Incorporating his love for travel into his music, Lazaro lets each trip shape a new perspective on the world, demolishing his prejudices and preconceptions. With each new encounter he makes, inspiration flourishes in his ever-changing music.
With heartfelt lyrics and a boundless style, Lazaro experiments with his music, never settling for one simple structure. Dancing between ukulele pop songs, synth and drum machines, Latin grooves and pop ballads, Lazaro’s unique approach to his music offers something for listeners who love to dabble and embrace life’s variety.
“I want to surprise them,” Lazaro explains. “I want to craft songs that people can relate to, have fun with because of that. My most ambitious goal is being able to move across genres and influences.”
Lazaro believes an artist should find a balance between accessibility and art, and those who do are the ones that are remembered.
2018 brought great things to Lazaro. Having his debut single released on Spotify, the musician has now racked up over 18,000 monthly listeners and has been featured in multiple Spotify Official playlists, including New Music Friday Latin and Discover Weekly.
Welcoming 2019 in with a bang, Lazaro will release his debut album, Rock, Paper, Scissors on March 21st. Priding himself of being an independent artist, the singer-songwriter has worked closely with Danny Humming of CarrotCake Productions on his completely home-recorded upcoming release.
